New Guitar Arrivals
I’ve been travelling to Spain, visiting luthiers and testing and trialling their guitars now for almost 20 years.
Every visit gives me the opportunity to look at the Spanish guitar world with fresh eyes! To get a first-hand understanding of the latest trends in guitar design; manufacturing techniques; woods and materials; string design and technology, and the economic and cost pressures, that has been impacting us all.
I’m also forever on the look-out for any exciting new models and makers to add to our range, plus also to identify early, any quality and design issues with our current makers, that may give me reason to rethink our relationship with them.
So, to achieve all this, I set out to visit the workshops and meet with the luthiers of:
All my old guitar making friends, some of which I’ve been working with for almost 20 years - including Alhambra and their master craftsman Javier Mengual, and my old flamenco friend Felipe Conde;
Our new and developing makers, who have been creating a full range of product for us for several years now, such as Vicente Carrillo, Prudencio Saez and Antonio Pinto Carvalho;
Some of the established, traditional makers, with the view to renewing relationships, such as Camps guitars and Teodoro Perez.
The “rising stars” of the next generation of luthiers, including Yunah Park and Elías Bonet,
So, after 8 weeks criss-crossing Spain and Europe, the end result, was that I visited 22 existing and new makers and their workshops, I played and tested more than a hundred different models, and brought home almost 700 new guitars!
I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed bringing them to you!
