PROVENANCE
We recently sold a 1986 1 A Contreras in Spruce and we are fortunate to have this superb Cedar example to replace it.
Acquiring a second-hand Manuel Contreras Estudio offers the potential to own a guitar from a renowned Spanish maker known for quality craftsmanship and excellent sound, often at a significant saving compared to a new model. One of the last made by Contreras.
It comes with it’s original bill of sale from the Calle Mayor workshop. It is in superb condition and is one of the best I have seen of this model. As the recording shows it displays the Contreras resonance and assertiveness and unlike many Contreras the left hand is easy and fluid and the right hand delivers without effort. Very sweet, lively sound, very colourful with great clarity.
Dan Nistico when playing and recording it says “Plays great, fantastic, very playable, very sweet, lively sound, very colourful, punch great clarity. Very nice you could play a range of music Villalobos, Bach. Bach prelude if you can play that on a guitars you’ve got yourself a playable guitar. Plays his own composition “Mazurka” to great effect showing sonority, sweetness and colour.”
