Cachimba C8
About the maker
Well this is a blast of nostalgia. I had heard of these but never seen one as it were in “the flesh”.
The Cachimba guitars line up was commissioned by Dr Peter Calvo who founded the Sydney Guitar School in 1969, which latter became AIM.
Finding there were few quality Classical guitars suitable for teaching the Classical repertoire available in Sydney.
He commissioned a small factory in Nagoya, Japan. To make him a series of models from 1-10 for his burgeoning student base. This is a high-end model 8.

Daniel Nistico when playing and reviewing the Cachimba 8 said “ This is wonderful Guitar, I like what it says here on the label “crafted from choice materials under strict supervision of the Sydney Spanish Guitar Centre”.
