José Maria Vilaplana is the head luthier and one of the founding partners of Alhambra, S.L. Although he is deeply involved in maintaining the high quality of their guitars, he continues to work as a luthier, making their top of the line concert classical guitar models for the most demanding professional guitarists, building these with the finest materials, totally handmade guitars using traditional methods. Only 12 of these models are made each year.
The bass has a free flowing effortless character which that just seems to float in midair. The transitional mid-range is well balanced and smooth with a lack of pluminess so often associated with this area which moves effortlessly into the treble with a melting cantabile quality. This guitar will make an outstanding performance instrument for the most demanding of players. It's a guitar that doesn’t have to shout to make itself heard, its voice simply permeates the furthest reaches of the recital hall.
