There are no shortcuts in his work and knowing that, in late 1989, John Ray moved to Granada, to learn the secrets of artisan guitar making.

Over the years he worked with Jonathan Hinves, Jose Angel Chacón and the master Antonio Marín,  he has absorbed the ways and techniques of traditional Spanish guitar building with encouragement from friend and guitar maker, Rolf Eichinger.
