This guitar is Gary Southwell’s own design taking the best of the Viennese and Spanish guitar making traditions and combining them with the ability to amplify the guitar with onboard piezo pickup and mic.
Aesthetically this guitar in inspired by Johann Georg Stauffer/ Johann Gottfried Scherzer and the Vienna model guitars of Herman Hauser
1. This guitar has excellent clarity and balance between treble and bass registers and projects very well.
The ease in playing this guitar is outstanding coming from its smaller 63cm scale and comfortable body shape.
The real success of this instrument lies in its versatility.

Perhaps most famously he had a long running collaboration with Julian Bream building reproductions of guitars by Herman Hauser.
