This is an excellent specimen of this distinctive guitar model made by Manuel Adalid, sold with its original padded hard case. It is in excellent condition.
This is a large Madrid-style guitar featuring a solid cedar top and attractive solid Pau Ferro back and sides, with a thin coating of nitrocellulose lacquer on the soundboard, and a Spanish cedar neck with a carbon-fibre reinforcing strip.
These combine to produce a robust tone with plenty of projection and versatility, depending on right hand attack and placement.
Manuel Adalid guitars form the Professional range of guitars made under the Esteve brand, and these all have the luthier's signature on the inside labels.
THE Adalid model 12 has a distinctive and attractive perforated headstock. This particular version with Pau Ferro back and sides is no longer produced for the model. It has been replaced by Grenadillo.
This guitar was purchased new by the owner three years ago from the Gladesville Guitar Factory, NSW. During 2021 the owner lived overseas and the guitar was unplayed, but stored in a humidity controlled environment.
It has therefore had about two years of playing (shared among three other guitars) , but remains in near mint condition, no dings or scratches.
It is fitted with Luthier Brand Concert Silver nylon strings, which are medium-high tension, except for the G string, which is carbon. This string configuration seems to suit this guitar best.
