This guitar has been completely restored by expert Luthier Archangelo Fernandez – French Polished by hand, re-fretted, pegs re-reamed. Has all the characteristics of the Ramirez guitars from this the best epoch of the Ramirez workshop when the best makers were part of the team.
It is incredibly lightweight very much in the style of the great mid-century flamencos. The tone of this instrument is sweet, beautiful and lyrical while retaining the bite and energy of flamenco.
The basses have impressive richness and power and the trebles have a beautiful singing “Lyrical” quality.
If you are looking for that ‘Sabicas’ sound then this is the guitar for you!
This guitar belonged to the late, famous English guitarist Ian Davies who lived most of his life in Spain playing with greats such as Serranito and Juan Maya “Marote”.
I purchased this guitar from his widowed partner who supplied me with a letter of authenticity.
Also includes Ian’s personal capos, repertoire list, business card, tuning fork etc.
This guitar was featured on the front cover of “Guitar International” magazine and also in another article by Ian Davies in another (both original magazines are supplied).
Two small cracks on the top have been expertly repaired but have no effect on the guitar’s sound.
The action has been expertly set up so that playability is super easy, with a fast action.
Would be a great guitar for solo performance, recording, or for the serious collector.
