I'll be leaving next month for an extensive "research visit" to Europe.
It's my first visit since lockdown began, so I've got some exciting things planned. Catching up with old luthier friends and meeting lots of new and exciting up and comers in the Spanish guitar world.
While I've got a hectic schedule, I'll be updating everyone with photos and videos, so if you have any special requests, or anything special you'd like me to pick up for you - just drop me a line.
Also, just a reminder that we're still well stocked, but guitars are walking out the door as soon as they arrive - so don't miss out!

Jose Ramirez 1983 1A
The epitome of Spanish concert guitars Ramirez is the powerhouse of Spanish guitar making.
The 1A is at the pinnacle of the Ramirez Workshop, who have set the standard in guitar making since 1882. It displays all the hall marks of a 1A Colour full, full bodied exquisite trebles and warm ringing rich basses and velvety mid-range.
This guitar was made in ‘83 when with Andres Segovia at the peak of his powers and where Segovia went all other concert guitarists followed.

Stauffer /Legnani Guitar circa 1890
A very beautiful guitar inspired by the famous master guitars of Stauffer!
This guitar was probably made in Vienna around 1860. It is a beautifully built instrument that is almost identical to an instrument by Stauffer (Legnani Model) from 1819.
This beautiful guitar was built with first class maple for back and sides and a fine spruce top. The fingerboard is rosewood and the headstock is large and beautifully constructed, as usual on Stauffer’s early Legnani models.

I'm Travelling on a Buying Trip to Spain Shortly - What can I Bring You Back?
|
|
|
Can I be your personal shopper?
After two-and-a-half years of restrictions and lockdowns, this year we will returning to Spain, seeking out the best guitars makers in the leading Spanish guitar cities of Granada, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia. We will also be heading to Portugal to meet with traditional Spanish guitar builders Antonio Pinto Carvallo who are building us superb affordable guitars.
So what’s your dream guitar? Is there something special you are seeking? A particular tone or maker you’re interested in? We’re here to help and while on site with makers can discuss your requirements.
While in Spain, we will meet with our existing guitar-makers such as Alhambra, Angel Benito Aguado and Felipe Conde. We will also meet with our new maker Prudencio Saez, who are emerging as a powerhouse in blending traditional Spanish guitar quality of build and tone-wood selection with Australian Lattice bracing – a superb combination.
We will also be visiting leading Spanish guitar stores to check out possible new makers, brands and models and while there will also meet with established concert guitar builders such as Paulino Bernabe as well as newly emerging makers like Elias Bonet. It’s going to be a busy trip!
We’ve made good use of time at home, expanding our range with guitars from Vicente Carrillo as well as importing strings and accessories from Barcelona and Royal Classics.
We also hope to meeting performers such as Jose Miguel Moreno and Jacob Cordover and recording music performances and impressions as we travel and bringing it all back to you. Of course we’d love to take you with us, but luggage limits don’t stretch that far!
So, if you've got your eye on something special that we can add to our range of:
Classical,
Flamenco,
Brazilian 7-string and specialised guitars
Crossover and cutaways,
Lattice and double top, or
Acoustic steel string
Or, something we can add to our Exclusive Classical Collection and our Exclusive Flamenco Collection
Give me a call Pierre 0410 708 338 to discuss, and let us know if there is a special guitar you would like us to pick up for you as we buy our stock for this coming year.

Grigoryan Brothers - Fred's Vision - This is Us
|
|
In this second performance piece from their "Musical Reflection of Australia series", Slava and Leonard Grigoryan present "Fred's Vision".
Fred's Vision: A response to the work of Fred Hollows
Professor Fred Hollows was an Australian surgeon and humanitarian who worked to improve the eye health of people living in under-privileged circumstances in Australia and overseas.
This case of trial lenses and frames from the national trachoma program relates to Hollow’s pioneering work in the field. Eye examinations were conducted in makeshift medical sites, sometimes in tents, sometimes on the side of the road.
Fred Hollows died in 1993 but the Fred Hollows Foundation continues to campaign for blindness prevention and improved health for Indigenous Australians.

A guide to our new quality entry level Guitar options
To meet customer demand for quality entry-level guitars that deliver great tone, playability (and that do not break the bank!) we source a wide variety of brands and models.
As well as our Alhambra range, we are pleased to offer our new brand, Antonio Pinto Carvallo (APC). These guitars are proving popular, with models available from $290 RRP, and include a solid top at $399, cutaways from $699.
Here are specs and video demos at the bottom of each guitar page:
APC and Alhambra are the largest and most popular guitar makers in the most competitive guitar market in the world i.e. Spain.
Together APC and Alhambra offer unbeatable cost-effective ranges from entry level to concert models; they also offer a point of difference of being made in the home of the guitar - the Iberian Peninsula.
You of course may be able to buy cheaper - but not better. And remember: the Antonio Pinto and Alhambra brands offer ergonomic necks for easy playing as well as traditional Spanish craftmanship, superb tone woods and light resonant finishes for superb tone.
